Tamzin Outhwaite is seen for the first time since denying claims she was ‘struggling to flog T-shirts and photos of herself at a car boot sale’

Tamzin Outhwaite has come out for the first time since denying she tried to sell posters and T-shirts of herself at a car boot sale.

Last week the former EastEnders star, 53, was filmed at a car boot sale in Chigwell, Essex, and appeared to be selling memorabilia with her likeness on customers.

However, Tamzin later clarified on social media that she and her children had attended the car boot sale as part of an annual tradition with other parents to teach their families about the value of money.

Tamzin looked casual in a cream-colored sports sweater with an appropriate recycling logo, paired with black leggings.

The star was noticeably focused on her phone as she headed out for a stroll in the London sunshine.

However, Tamzin later took to social media to reveal that she and her children had attended the car boot sale

After footage emerged of Tamzin at a car boot sale, the X star clarified that she had not tried to flog memorabilia with her face.

She wrote: ‘Our annual car boot sale is a family tradition. Last Sunday, 6 adults and 6 children met in our cars and took up almost an entire row. We had the best time

‘Our children aged 15 to 4 are learning that selling your unwanted toys and clothes is a great way to save money.

‘We had a great time and are already planning the next one.’

She added that she did not sell posters of herself, writing: ‘My children earned quite a bit of money, as did my brothers and cousin, and with my earnings I bought us a curry that evening.

‘If anyone knows of a great car boot sale we can do it next, holla!!!’

In video obtained by The sunthe actress was filmed trying to sell items by her boyfriend Tom Child, 33.

Tamzin sorted clothes rails for bargain hunters to purchase, but a fellow seller had previously claimed she was struggling to find interested buyers.

Tamzin went to X to deny she was trying to sell posters of herself, insisting she had taken her children to the car boot sale so they could sell their unwanted items.

The seller told the publication: ‘It was funny because she was selling strange looking things including posters of herself. She had quite a few. They showed her dressed as Superwoman or something like that.

“She had a lot of T-shirts, but people just weren’t interested. She had a big old industrial lamp and lots of wind instruments too.”

It’s not the first time Tamzin has sold her things and she previously revealed she ‘loves a car boot sale’.

In 2020, she revealed that she had started selling her unwanted belongings after acting work dried up during the coronavirus pandemic.

She revealed that she has set up an online business where she sells clothes and home goods that she has made or no longer needs to pay her mortgage.

Tamzin insisted that she is not ‘snobby’ and does not worry about how she makes money, and that she is always looking for innovative ways to make money.

Speaking on the Irregular B*tches podcast, she said: ‘I’m in a situation right now where I’m starting to sell things.

‘I’m about to set up a website for things I’ve made or bought that I no longer need. Household items, clothes.

“I just think this is probably how I’m going to pay my mortgage and be able to survive for a while until our industry comes back.”

‘I’m not snobbish or proud of what I do. I love a car boot sale, but everything is online. I think of ways of: ‘How do I do that now?’ I’m not proud. “Oh god, influencers make money, how do you do that?”

‘I’m trying to think of ways I might be able to do that. I’m in a decent situation. I can put my career on hold for a while and then we’ll still eat.’

Tamzin rose to fame in 1998 playing fan-favourite character Mel Healy in EastEnders, until her departure in 2002.

She then returned to the BBC soap in January 2018, before ultimately being killed off during a dramatic high-speed chase with Sharon Watts in November 2019.

Tamzin’s other major roles included Sgt. Jo McDonagh in Red Cap and DCI Sasha Miller in New Tricks.

She has been in a relationship with Tom, who is 20 years her junior, for six years after they met at a yoga class in 2017.

He now lives with the star and her two daughters, as she previously described him as ‘the best’ stepdad.

Tamzin shares daughters Florence, 15, and Marnie, 11, with ex-husband Tom Ellis, to whom she was married from 2006 to 2014.

The marriage is said to have ended in 2013 after the Lucifer star, 45, confessed to an affair with actress Emilie de Ravin while they worked together on Once Upon A Time in 2013.

In July last year, Tamzin claimed that the actor had done just that “walked out” on her and their children and that she was still discovering “more infidelity and lies he was committing” in a quickly deleted tweet.

She wrote: ‘Ten years since the father of my children left us for the last time. I still meet new people at jobs who reveal more infidelities and lies he has committed. But luckily my heart and soul are clear and clean and I couldn’t be happier right now.”
