Tammy Hembrow has opened up about her terrifying fear of cancer.
The 29-year-old fitness influencer revealed that she had skin cancer removed from her leg after she canceled several skin check appointments because she was ‘busy’.
“This is your sign to get your skin checked,” she told her 16.7 million followers on Friday.
Tammy said she had her skin checked last week after discovering “a new little freckle” on the back of her leg.
She said she initially thought the spot was harmless until her doctor looked at it — he had the freckle removed for a biopsy before discovering it was melanoma.

“I went back this morning and (the doctor) had to take a big chunk out of my leg,” Tammy added.
“I’ve got about 30 stitches… And now I have to go back every three months for a full skin check to make sure it doesn’t come back.”
Tammy went on to say she was “super super lucky” that the doctors were able to find and remove the cancer when they did, admitting that her last skin check was “probably about a year ago” and that she wasn’t “the most diligent person’ when it comes to practicing sun safety.

“As you know, I’m in the sun all the time. I go to the beach all the time. I live for the ocean,’ she continued.
“I feel like an idiot now, to be honest. Because it’s just one of those things that you don’t think will happen to you until it does.”
She added that the ordeal was a wake-up call.
Tammy then vowed to never expose herself to the sun without taking proper precautions such as wearing a hat and applying SPF50+ sunscreen.
The Gold Coast influencer, who regularly shares bikini selfies, then urged her followers to get their skin checked regularly and said all her associates have booked theirs.
“Just don’t be stupid like me and think you’re somehow invincible because you’re not,” she said.
