Tammin Sursock regrets acting on Home and Away at just 15, despite her successful US career

Tammin Sursock has revealed that she wonders if acting on Home And Away at just 15 years old was the right decision.

The South African-born Australian star played Dani Sunderland in the iconic soap opera from 2000 to 2004.

But the now 39-year-old now thinks she may have been too young when she was thrust into the spotlight, despite her highly successful acting career that followed.

When asked by news.com.au if there’s one thing she regrets about her life, the Pretty Little Liars actress said it would have been nice to have had a “normal” high school experience.

“The point is, the times in my life when I look back and think, ‘Ooh, would I have started at 15?'” she said.

“I was so impressionable, I was so young, I didn’t really know which way was up. I chose to become an actor when I was 15.

“It wasn’t my parents — I wanted it so badly, but would it have been more mentally helpful to me if I just had a normal high school experience and wasn’t in the public eye?”

However, the actress acknowledges that if she hadn’t jumped at the chance to act in Home And Away, she might not have gotten the opportunities she had, like in The Young And Restless and Hannah Montana.

She also said that if she hadn’t jump-started her soap opera career, she may never have met her husband Sean McEwen, who is a film producer.

The couple met when she auditioned for one of his movies and now they live together in Tennessee, USA, with their two children together Phoenix, nine, and Lennon, four.

Despite filming six episodes of Neighbors last year, Tammin previously said she would not return to soap opera acting.

“It’s where I started and what gave me everything in my career — if it weren’t for that show, I don’t know where my life would have gone,” the actress said on her Instagram story last year.

Tammin said on her Instagram story that Dani’s story on Home And Away is done

“I’m very grateful for the experience and the opportunity, so I would definitely do a cameo.”

However, she believes that Dani’s Home And Away story is over for good.

“I don’t think I would go back and play that character again for a long time because I think her story is told and I think the character is finished,” she added.

The actress stars in Blood, Sweat and Cheer, which was released on April 15 on streaming service Tubi.
