TALK OF THE TOWN: A hell of a job for Sir Elton John trying to reunite Devil Wears Prada cast

Sir Elton John attempts to reunite the original cast of the film The Devil Wears Prada for the opening night of his musical version in the West End.

Invitations are flying to Hollywood, and now he and his fellow producers are waiting for responses.

“We don’t know if Meryl Streep will come, but the invitation is there,” a source said. “I think Anne Hathaway is coming.”

The show has its gala night at the Dominion Theater on December 1, World AIDS Day, with Sir Elton, who wrote the music, and his husband David Furnish.

The stage version stars Vanessa Williams as fearsome editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, the role Streep made famous, and Georgie Buckland as aspiring journalist Andy, played for the first time by Hathaway. Emily Blunt also starred as Emily’s assistant.

The musical debuted in Chicago in 2022 and the cast hopes the musical will next be seen in New York. At a Fortnum & Mason Salcombe Gin party, Georgie tells me: ‘We hope it transfers to Broadway. That’s the intention, that it’s going there.’

Genuine designer clothes from 2005, when the action takes place, will be used during the show – but my source tells me these will be kept under lock and key.

“No expense is spared on the show,” they said. “But there will be a strong inventory on hand so that no items are lost, in case a cast member tries to borrow a handbag for the evening.”

Kate Moss is clearly not worried about the ‘fake babies’ row as the supermodel turned agent has signed up the son of the man who made her famous.

Her agency now represents Ned Sims, the son of photographer David Sims, who shot 17-year-old Kate in 1993 for her breakout Calvin Klein campaign.

Funnily enough, Ned – who at 1.80 meters is on the small side for a male model – immediately went from unknown to being the face of Zara’s autumn/winter 24 campaign. Before this big job, Ned had only appeared in the niche fashion magazine Homme.

Moss has several nepobabies – the dismissive term for people believed to have benefited from nepotism – in her books, including her own “mini-me,” Lila Moss.

Soprano Charlotte has become a moon diver

Has Charlotte Church undergone a spiritual transformation, from performing for President Clinton in 1999 to waving incense sticks at the moon?

The 38-year-old singer appears to have gone into full swing as she presided over a ceremony to mark the Pisces Full Moon in Wales last week.
