Table Top, Albury: Teenage boy dies in horror head-on crash as three others are rushed to hospital

A teenage boy has died in a horrific head-on crash near the New South Wales-Victoria border.

The 17-year-old died on Friday when his Holden Astra sedan collided with a Toyota Hilux on the Olympic Highway near Table Top just before 8pm.

A 31-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy in the Hilux were treated at the scene and then rushed to hospital.

“The driver of the Holden Astra, a man believed to be 17, died at the scene,” New South Wales police said in a statement on Saturday.

‘The three occupants of the Toyota Hilux, a 31-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy, were treated at the scene by witnesses and ambulance personnel before being taken to Albury Base Hospital with unknown injuries.’

The crash site, about 20km north of Albury, was guarded by police officers from the Murray River police district.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The 17-year-old’s death is the 213th life lost on NSW roads this year, compared to 197 in the same period in 2023.
