Thousands of Americans in the US reported a drop in their T-Mobile cell phone service on Wednesday, with as many as 3,767 complaints received as of 3:30 PM Eastern.
Major US metropolitan areas, including Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston and Minneapolis, appear to have been hardest hit by the outage.
Thousands began reporting complaints from 2:30 PM Eastern into the early evening, according to the site Down Detector, with signal strength appearing to return in some areas around 5:30 PM Eastern.
While T-Mobile has not yet provided an explanation for the outage, the carrier’s social media presence, @TMobileHelp on

According to the site Down Detector, a total of 3,767 complaints were received about T-Mobile’s signal problems as of 3:30 PM Eastern. Although T-Mobile has not yet provided an explanation for the outage, the telecom provider’s presence on X, @TMobileHelp, has responded to public complaints
“I will look into your region and find out why your service is down and do everything I can to get you connected as quickly as possible,” is a typical message from @TMobileHelp read.
“Please DM me with your exact address so we can work out a resolution to ensure you receive service.”
According to Down detectorThe majority of user complaints (60 percent) focused on issues with mobile phone services, with the remainder split between ‘signal’ issues (23 percent) and access to the provider’s ‘mobile internet’ services (17 percent).
Regardless of the cause of the outage, speculation was rife on social media, with some attributing the event to recent geopolitical tensions and natural disasters around the world.
‘Tb [to be honest] I think maybe it has to do with the world’s problems,” said a user of Elon Musk’s X platform. “Because a lot of things have happened between Xbox psn Verizon and T-Mobile in the last few days.”
“Something’s not right,” said the user, who goes by the name ‘DEION aka Hogwarts is my home’ @Mr_too_soon on X.
