T.J. Holmes is put in ambulance alongside Amy Robach after suffering Chicago Marathon injury

TJ Holmes found himself in an ambulance after suffering an injury during the Chicago Marathon with girlfriend Amy Robach.

The 47-year-old media personality posted photos and videos of himself in the back of an ambulance during the long-distance running event on Instagram on Monday.

Another of the snaps saw legs and feet as he was strapped to the stretcher.

There was also a video that appeared to be taken by Amy showing his leg and looking at TJ who seemed quite concerned.

He captioned the little gallery: “So this happened. The full story follows…. [tearing up emoji] #DNF #chicagomarathon.”

His 51-year-old partner later revealed what the injury was on her Instagram Story, writing: “Mile 21 and the Achilles gave way.”

TJ had also posted a selfie of himself during the race next to one of him in the ambulance with the caption: ‘How I went from here…’ to this.’

He has been open about his health issues while training for the marathon, as he said on the September 30 episode their podcast Amy & TJ: ‘It may be that one of us is not in charge.

“And that one was almost in tears this morning after having to do an eight-mile run and I only made it 1.6 miles.”

Amy revealed at the time that her partner was suffering from his Achilles tendon when she said: ‘I have to say you were so on top of it.

‘Every day you make ice, you heat it. You went to a foot specialist who did laser heat therapy. You did everything you could. You take a steady dose of Aleve and Advil and it hasn’t gotten better.”

Last month he revealed that he had been suffering from the pain for two months, which he described at the time as ‘an inflammation at the back of my heel’.

Amy added that TJ had been considering whether or not to run the race for fear of a serious injury.

She said, “You obviously don’t want to tear your Achilles tendon, and that’s the fear.”

Meanwhile, Amy also revealed last month that she and TJ won’t be getting married anytime soon.

The television reporter, who previously worked for ABC News, said there is “no urgency” to walk down the aisle even though she and 47-year-old Holmes want to remarry.

This comes two years after DailyMail.com revealed that the former Good Morning America co-hosts had a workplace affair, splitting from their respective partners.

Following the scandal, Robach said on Thursday’s episode of I Do, Part 2, her new podcast about “love, resilience and second chances” with Holmes, Jennie Garth and Jana Kramer, that they are in no rush to tie the knot .

“There’s no urgency in the sense that I’m 51 years old,” she explained. “I don’t have to rush into anything.”

The journalist emphasized that they plan to get married, but they have no timeline or plan.

“I think I’ve rushed everything in my life so far,” she continued. “But he knows I want to get married, and I know he wants to get married.”

Robach added that they have both “said to each other and publicly” that they want to spend the rest of their lives together.

“We haven’t set a timeline and we talk about it all the time,” she explained. “I don’t think a week goes by where we’re not discussing, ‘Should we? Should we?’

Holmes also spoke about their romance, saying their love feels “different.”

“I’m such a fan of love,” he said.

“There’s nothing I love more than a wedding and just the idea of ​​someone making that commitment and making a new beginning and building something together,” he said.

Holmes said he “finally hit a wall” and was urged by someone to find a therapist.

‘Someone who wasn’t even that close to me recognized and identified it. They immediately put me in therapy,” he said.

“And it’s true they say it’s like dating. You have to go from therapist to therapist and find one that works for you,” he said.

He noted that once he found the therapist for him, it was “helpful.”

“It’s not something I keep track of, but it was helpful during some of the darkest times of my life.”

Because of that experience, he said he is considering couples therapy with Robach.

“I haven’t done couples therapy with Amy yet,” he admitted. “We’ve talked about doing that. We don’t know why. We just want to go and see what happens.”

The couple previously revealed that marriage was “on the table” during a December 2023 episode of their Amy and TJ podcast.

A few months later, in April, they admitted that they were debating whether to get married or remain life partners without the official label.

“We’re still deciding the level of that engagement, whether it’s legal or not,” Robach said. “But mentally and emotionally we absolutely agree that we will commit to each other. We haven’t figured out what marriage is yet.’

However, Holmes admitted that he wanted to get married to make their relationship feel “official” and “real.”

Previously, Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig. Robach was married to Andrew Shue for twelve years.

Both marriages were their second respectively. Holmes and Robach have children from their previous relationships.
