A police officer and a sheriff’s deputy were killed Sunday evening after a shooting in New York state.
The incident occurred near Darien Drive in Salina, just outside of Syracuse, where officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle.
During the investigation, shots were fired, wounding a Syracuse officer as well as another officer with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley said one person inside the home was injured while someone was taken into custody.
Sheriff Shelley said the two officers were in critical condition, and sources have since said so Syracuse.com that the two have died.

Footage from the scene shows there was a large police presence on the street after the incident.
According to reports from the Onondaga County 911 Center, a call for an officer went out just before 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Shortly afterward, the outlet reported that a vehicle was seen taking people to Upstate University Hospital.
Local media reported that a command center had been set up while police investigated the area, while a helicopter was also deployed.
Brian Fagan told Syracuse.com that he heard a car speeding through the streets and flying past his house with five deputy police cruisers in tow.
Fagan said the tires screeched as the vehicles stopped before four of the five gunshots went off.

Sheriff Shelley said updates on the incident would be provided Monday and said there was no immediate threat to the community

He said, “I look out my window right now and there’s probably 30 to 40 state troopers and sheriffs on my street.”
Fagan also told the outlet that a 911 system warned him to shelter in place after the incident.
