Sydney woman reveals the shocking ending to her ‘worst date ever’ – and almost everyone agrees with her
Dating disasters are something every Australian singleton can relate to – but one woman’s bizarre story of her ‘worst date ever’ has left thousands with their jaws hanging.
A Sydney woman shared her unforgettable experience that ended when her date ruined an expensive bottle of wine she had paid for by opening it and pouring half of it into a takeaway container.
Australian women have been struggling in the dating market for years – from seemingly ‘perfect’ men lying on dating apps to many facing aggressive tactics after polite rejections.
A French expat was also left feeling shocked and dejected by a ‘brazen’ act on her very first date in Australia.
The scorned woman was framed by her colleague’s mother, who was convinced her son was the ‘perfect match’.
“She came up to me at work one day and said, ‘I’m sorry, I know we’ve only met once, but my son would be perfect for you,'” the woman revealed.
The couple went out a few times, and everything seemed to be going well – until he suggested they have a more intimate evening.
“Finally he asked me, ‘Would you like to get a bottle of wine and come back to mine?’ I said yes. But when we got to the bottle shop, he ‘forgot’ his wallet, so I ended up buying the wine.”

In retrospect, the man ‘forgetting’ his wallet should have been the first warning sign.
Speaking with influencer and street interviewer Georgia Godworththe woman revealed how everything went downhill from there.
“We didn’t even open the expensive bottle of wine I bought because he still had something to drink,” she explained.
‘I thought: no problem, I’ll just take the wine home. But when I tried to grab him on the way out, he stopped me!’
What happened next left her completely baffled.
“He took the wine, opened it and poured half of it into a takeaway container. Then he handed me the half-empty bottle, smiled and said, “Thanks for coming.”
Needless to say, she never went back for another date.
Georgia revealed her shock and horror at the unconventional act.

“I’m amazed, did he take a drink in front of you? Check if it was exactly half?’ the interviewer asked.
The bizarre act is in line with the Canadian expat Taylor Stevenson who claimed that men Down Under are ‘retarded’.
‘When I first moved here, not a single man came up to me in the clubs and hit me. I thought it was a bit weird, I was offended,” she said in one video.
The lack of attention turned out to be a surprising benefit, as she was able to just “go out with the girls and have fun.”
“I have a boyfriend now and every time we go to the clubs a thousand girls come up and hit him – and no guys come up to me at all,” Taylor added.
‘Is this how things work here? Do the girls participate in the work? Is it just a bit backward?’
The culture change from home was shocking.
‘In North America, the boys come to the girls. “I don’t know any girls who would go after a guy,” she said.
Canada’s Tayler Stevenson said things are “down” in Australia because men don’t approach her in public
Hundreds of Australian women told Tayler that men probably didn’t go to her because they were intimidated – while others commented on the dating culture Down Under.
“It’s because you’re beautiful and they don’t want to be rejected,” said one fan.
One woman said: ‘My ex was beaten every time he left the house and refused to believe that boys didn’t hit me everywhere.’
“Guys here want princess treatment and I’m so tired,” one woman wrote.
“A similar situation in New Zealand,” said an Auckland resident. ‘No one talks to anyone when they go out, not even in clubs. Such a different scene than in North America.’
An Australian added: ‘Every time I travel I experience what it should be like, and then I’m back here and invisible.’
