Sydney train delays: Urgent rail repairs cause commuter chaos, warning passengers to plan ahead

Commuters are warned of major delays due to urgent track repairs in Sydney’s CBD.

Transport NSW issued the warning on Thursday morning, advising travelers to allow for sufficient additional travel time on the rail network

Due to track works between Circular Quay and St James, trains will only run in one direction around the City Circle.

Trains on the T2 Inner West and Leppington Line, T3 Bankstown Line and T8 Airport and South Line will be delayed as a result.

Transport NSW said some stopping patterns and platforms may change in the short term.

Passengers on the T1 North Shore and Western Line and T9 Northern Lines have also been warned to allow extra travel time due to a train having a mechanical problem on Central earlier.

Passengers have been asked to listen to announcements and check information displays for service updates.
