A little-known eatery is attracting foodies in droves for their drool-worthy sandwiches, which some say are the best in the country.
In an unassuming arcade in the Sydney suburb of Crows Nest sits a colorful, self-contained stall called On a roll.
Word of the little cafe’s delectable sandwiches and oozing cheese toasties is spreading so much so that the owners are hiring more staff, expanding their hours and expanding their menu.
Favorites on the menu include the Cubano sandwich with Mexican-style pork, pickles and mustard, as well as the ‘luxury’ ham and cheese sandwich, made gourmet with the addition of provolone, bocconcini cheese and chives.
Vegetarians can enjoy the mushroom provolone sandwich with black garlic on white sourdough bread and the ‘Mushroom Feel Good Sandwich’ filled with onion ricotta, avocado, bocconcini and basil.

The $19.50 brisket sandwich comes with house-smoked brisket, aged cheddar and slaw, while the $20 Reuben has pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing.
One patron said On A Roll’s brisket sandwich was “the best you’ll ever taste,” while another said the hidden eatery was “worth the hype.”
“Bold claim time. I think I’ve discovered THE best Reuben sandwich in Sydney! If you haven’t tried one yet, I recommend you do so as soon as possible,” one woman said excitedly.

“I wish I found out sooner, I’ve walked past it so many times without knowing how good the sandwiches here were,” said another.
“I’ve tried pretty much all the sandwiches (Reuben, brisket, Philly cheesesteak, Cubano). They’re all great, not bad, it’s becoming a weekly thing for me now,” one person added.

Salumerie founder Donato Salomone opened the deli to give Sydneysiders a taste of his hometown of Naples with sandwiches inspired by his mother’s cooking.
The homemade focaccia bread is crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside and the perfect container for the different combinations of fillings.
Meanwhile, others have flocked to Arno Deli in the heart of Newcastle, which specializes in giving guests a taste of the Mediterranean with an extensive range of Italian meats, cheeses, desserts and wine.
Arno is famous in Newcastle for his rotating menu of 26 drool-worthy paninis with soft schiacciata bread.
Fan favorites include the number five with mortadella, pistachio cream, stracciatella and pistachio and the number seven with prosciutto, finocchiona, provolone, mustard and mayonnaise.
