Sydney Olympic Park shooting: Gunman on the run

A gunman is on the run after a targeted shooting in Sydney Olympic Park.

The victim, a 29-year-old man, was shot several times in the arm when three men burst into his apartment before fleeing the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the victim before he was taken to hospital for treatment. Although he was seriously injured, he is expected to recover.

A burnt-out silver 4WD was found nearby in Lidcombe and police are investigating whether it was used as a getaway vehicle.

Sydney has seen dozens of tit-for-tat gangland shootings since 2020, sparked by a war between rival crime organisations.

These public attacks included five targeted shootings in one week in mid-July.

Violence had subsided following a series of arrests that investigators say helped dismantle one of the main gangs involved, but violence has flared up again in recent months.
