Police have released CCTV footage showing the car was involved in a collision that left a “loving father” dead.
Emergency services rushed to Abell Road in Melonba, about 51 kilometres (32 miles) northwest of Sydney’s CBD, at 11.45pm on Sunday night after reports of a man injured on the side of the road.
Emergency workers tried with all their might to save the 79-year-old man, but he died on the spot.
The man’s grief-stricken family explained that he was visiting Australia from Nepal to celebrate his daughter’s 25th wedding anniversary.
His daughter, who was too distraught to appear on camera, told Sunrise on Monday that her father was a “nice family man” who cared for his wife and children.
In an interview with the Today Show, she also strongly criticized the cowardly driver for fleeing the scene of the accident and not stopping to help her dying father.
Police have released CCTV footage of the car they say was involved in the alleged collision.
The footage, taken from a neighbor’s home, shows a small, dark-colored sedan or coupe driving down Abell Road.
