Sydney Crust Pizza breaks silence after pigeons were caught eating toppings

Crust Pizza has spoken out after footage captured the disgusting moment pigeons helped themselves to the toppings.

Three birds were caught tucking into grated cheese at a counter at Crust in Neutral Bay, on Sydney’s lower north shore.

A passerby filmed the sickening incident without staff watching the front of the store and uploaded footage to social media.

A spokesperson for Crust said the front door of the store was open while an employee was working in the back kitchen.

“The door was accidentally left open and the pigeon immediately flew in,” they said.

“That was an unfortunate day… since the incident happened, we have taken a number of precautions so that it doesn’t happen again.”

Staff have been warned to keep the doors closed as much as possible and always cover the topping containers with lids.

Many Aussies were disgusted to see the pigeons enjoying their lunch with ingredients prepared to serve to humans.

“The door was accidentally open and the pigeon just flew in,” said a spokesperson

“Never eating Crust pizza again,” someone commented.

“That’s my last Crust order ever,” a second added.

“Yeah, I’m not going there,” said a third.

There were some who were amused by the sight.

“Crust pizza… pigeon approved,” wrote one.

“They only season the hot wings,” said another disturbingly.

“I love that third pigeon… it says, ‘Is this happening?'” another commented.

Crust is the third largest pizza chain in Australia with 136 outlets, operating as individual franchises.
