A man has been rushed to hospital after he lost control of his car and crashed into the back of a bus in Sydney’s north-west.

The crash happened near the busy junction of Epping and Vimiera Roads in Marsfield at around 12.40am on Tuesday.

It is learned that the driver of the car fell asleep behind the wheel.

Emergency responders had to free the man, 43, trapped inside the rubble.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics for a leg injury before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The bus driver and a passenger on board were not injured.

Footage from the scene shows extensive damage to both the car and the bus.

Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are continuing, a NSW Police spokesman said.
