Guzman y Gomez customer is called out for ‘disgusting’ dog act inside the restaurant
Two customers of Guzman y Gomez were reprimanded for letting their dog sit on the table while they ate their food.
The Sydney couple were recently photographed enjoying their meal in the city’s west, while their dog sat at the bar, where other people later dined.
Another customer was “shocked” and shared the devastating scene on Reddit.
“I love dogs, but what idiot puts his dog on a table where people are eating?” someone asked.
“Dog owner here. That’s insane. I don’t want dog butt germs in my burrito, please,” said another.
A spokesperson for Guzman y Gomez told FEMAIL: ‘The GYG Shift Leader asked the guest to get the dog off the couch (and out of the restaurant) as soon as they saw this happening. It appears that another guest took a photo before this happened.
GYG’s policy is in line with NSW Food Authority guidelines: dogs are not allowed in restaurants, dogs may only be allowed on outdoor patios if the business approves, and live animals are not allowed in food handling areas.
‘Service animals (such as assistance dogs) must be allowed in areas used by customers. It is disappointing that a guest chooses to do this, but the GYG team followed our policy as soon as they became aware of it.’

Other Australians were fiercely critical of dog owners who treat their pets like people rather than animals.
“Dog people are crazy here,” said one man. “It’s overwhelming, every time I’m in Newtown I see dogs in places you least expect them to be.”
“That’s f**ked. You don’t have to take your dog everywhere with you,” one woman wrote.
“I don’t hate dogs. But you shouldn’t be able to take them everywhere,” another chimed in.
“Your dog won’t suffer from anxiety because you’re not taking him to Guzman y Gomez,” someone added.
A woman shared a list of reasons why it’s unsafe to take dogs to restaurants.
‘Dogs (except service dogs, of course) are not allowed everywhere and should not be, as they can be unpredictable for a variety of reasons, can be a nuisance, and can easily ruin a stranger’s dining experience, regardless of how their owners behave.
Imagine trying to eat when a dog nearby accidentally puts its butt on the floor, or a highly allergic person shows up for a reservation and has to leave.
“I love animals just as much as anyone else, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not going to take my cat out to dinner because I’m going to miss her or anything. I’m an adult who understands that’s not reasonable or considerate.”
