The moment an elaborate beachside marriage proposal goes horribly wrong in front of shocked onlookers just seconds after the groom-to-be went down on one knee

- But there was a setback when the groom-to-be lost the ring.
A groom-to-be’s beach proposal of marriage nearly ends in disaster after the diamond ring is lost in the sand overnight.
Sydney couple Zay and Sai briefly took over Coogee Beach over the weekend for the dream milestone when Zay got down on one knee amid a sea of twinkling lights next to a massive “marry me” sign.
Hundreds of onlookers gathered along the shoreline to witness the poignant moment when Sai said ‘yes’ but then held their collective breath as Zay seemed unable to find the engagement ring after groping it on the sand.

Video of the moment shows friends and family members running up and down on their knees to try to spot the most important item.
But before long, the ring was found and placed on the bride-to-be’s finger to applause and a collective sigh from the crowd, no doubt from Zay as well.
Sai then took to social media to express his delight at the romantic proposal.
‘I said yes! Completely taken by surprise and completely in love. I could never have imagined a proposal as perfect and magical as the one you gave me,’ she wrote.
“Pro tip from my fiancé: don’t propose with a loose ring in the sand,” she added.
It is not known when the wedding vows will take place, but the ring will certainly not be removed again before then.

Commenters on the post congratulated the couple.
‘What a wonderful memory you will have of this,’ said one person.
“Public proposals give me the creeps but this was great, I’m glad it ended well,” said another.
Sai also thanked his friends who had helped Zay plan the moment.
“Thank you for being part of our journey and for making this proposal a moment that we will always cherish.”
A Zay added: “I’m so grateful to have you as my partner, my best friend, and now, my fiancée.”
