Sydney CBD in lockdown after stabbing overnight leaves three in hospital

A stabbing attack has shut down parts of Sydney’s CBD and left three people in hospital.

Parts of Goulburn Street and Pitt Street in the city remain closed with police presence at the two active crime scenes.

It is understood a major fight broke out at the Civic Hotel in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with two men also held in hospital under police guard for questioning.

There are reports that scissors were used during the wild 4am brawl.

A man and a woman in their 20s were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, while another man in his 20s was rushed to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

The roads have been reopened to allow traffic to flow before rush hour.

However, both footpaths remain closed and may impact pedestrians walking into the CBD from Central Station. Police have advised them to avoid the area.

No charges have been filed yet.
