Sydney Airport: Dramatic moment man runs onto tarmac and tries to board an international flight through the cargo hold

A dramatic video has emerged of the moment a man tried to board an international flight through the cargo hold after walking onto the tarmac.

The incident took place at Sydney Airport around 3pm on Friday, when the man reportedly walked through immigration controls onto the tarmac and attempted to board a Sri Lankan Airlines plane.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers were seen arresting the man, wearing a red and white shirt, as he clung to the bars of a loading ramp near the plane’s open cargo door.

Airline staff tried to pry the man’s arms free from the bars while AFP officers pulled on his legs, eventually dragging him to the ground as he continued to scream.

Witnesses said the man ran through the immigration control area towards the airport tarmac while being chased by AFP officers, the police. Daily telegram reported.

It is believed that the man had psychological problems.

An AFP spokesperson said the man reportedly ran through the immigration control area before gaining access to “restricted areas.”

“AFP officers intercepted the man on the platform,” the spokesperson said.

‘The man was taken to hospital for examination, where he remains.’

The man has been issued a citation for airside trespassing and has been banned from the airport for 12 months.
