A man has been charged with allegedly assaulting a female police officer.
NSW Police responded to reports of a drunk man at Sydenham railway station, in Sydney’s inner west, around 2am on Saturday morning.
When police arrived, the 39-year-old man allegedly tried to open the door of their vehicle before assaulting a female police officer.
The officer was taken to hospital with facial injuries, but has since been released.

Additional police officers and security guards at the station helped to restrain the man, who was also taken to hospital.
The 39-year-old has been charged with obstructing or resisting a police officer in the performance of his duty, assaulting a police officer in the performance of his duty, and causing bodily harm and common assault.
He was refused bail and appeared before Parramatta local court on Saturday.
