Stardew Valley Console and mobile players have been patiently waiting for the 1.6 update to arrive on console and mobile — and they’ll have to wait a little longer. While the 1.6 update rolled out in March for Windows PC players, the update is taking longer to arrive for Android and Apple devices, as well as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone posted a message on X on Monday with an update: The console and mobile ports, in addition to the next PC update, “are still in development,” he said.
“I know it’s been a long time coming, it’s been on my mind every minute,” Barone wrote. “I’ve been working on the mobile port personally every day. I’ll announce it when there’s meaningful news (like a release date). I hope you have a good summer.”

Satisfying, Stardew Valley Players are being very kind about the delay — many of the comments under the post thank Barone for his work on the game and tell him to take his time with the update. Barone noted that he is “personally” working on the mobile port (and The Secret Police is credited for mobile on the Stardew Valley FAQalso). According to the FAQ, Sickhead Games is responsible for the console ports.
As a reference, Stardew ValleyUpdate 1.5 was released on December 21, 2020 for PC and on February 11, 2021 for consoles.
Stardew Valley‘s 1.6 update is bigger than people expected, with a new type of farm, two mini-festivals, a new three-day spring festival, and a summer event. Barone has also added a huge list of smaller features and quality-of-life improvements to the game. All Stardew Valley‘s updates, regardless of size, have been free — and Barone plans to keep it that way. In response to a player who thanked him for the effort, Barone asked for an explanation for this: “I swear on the honor of my family name, that I will never ask for money for a DLC or update, as long as I live. Take a screenshot of this and shame on me if I ever break this oath.”
