A two-year-old child who was crushed by a rugby rum machine has been remembered as a ‘sweet boy’.
Oliver Koch was with his father at the Old Bar Beach Rugby Club in Old Bar, about three hours north of Sydney, at 2pm on Sunday when the sports equipment fell on him.
A rugby scrum machine is a heavy piece of equipment used to practice scrummaging.
The toddler’s father, who is a coach for the club, desperately tried to save his son and screamed for help.
Bystanders attempted to save Oliver’s life, but his injuries were significant and he died at the scene.

On Wednesday a family friend had one GoFundMe for his broken parents.
“The Koch family is deeply loved in our community and our hearts are broken for them following the devastating loss of their sweet boy, Oliver,” the fundraiser said.
“Please help support the Koch family if you can.
“They would be forever grateful for the relief from financial pressure during this time.”
Locals left red flowers at the accident site within days of the tragedy.
NSW Police said the situation is not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
