Sweden recently built up a reputation as the capital of the gun of the European Union.

In all 2023, 53 people were killed in shootings in Sweden, where around 10.5 million people are home to the home. In 2022 that figure was 62 – and the murder percentage of Stockholm was about 30 times that of London.

Experts say that the violence is powered by a number of factors: peat wars between gangs, a growing drug market, an inflow of weapons on the market, growing inequality, a high level of immigration and also a failure of migrant integration in society.

Mafia groups abroad have called the country a ‘refuge’ for their activities, while organized crime groups have infiltrated business sectors and found weapons to smuggle military quality weapons to the country.
