The body of a man was found in the street in the middle of the day, sparking a murder investigation.
On Thursday morning, members of the public made a gruesome discovery near a storm drain in the Perth suburb of Swan View.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but they were unable to revive the man. His identity has not yet been officially established.
It is still unclear how long the man’s body had been there.
Western Australia police are treating the man’s death as suspicious.
“It is not known how long the deceased man was at that location. An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding his death,” police said.
“At this time, the man’s death is being treated as suspicious until otherwise determined.”
Marlboro Road was closed for much of the afternoon as forensic personnel searched the area for possible evidence, while dozens of police officers rang doorbells at homes.

The man owned an apartment less than 100 meters from where his body was found, a shocked local said.
Late Thursday night, officers were seen guarding a unit in the complex while detectives searched the backyards of neighboring properties.
Other residents were equally concerned.
“It’s horrible to hear that something like this has happened close to us when we were out walking with our children,” one woman told Nine News.
