Suzanne Morphew’s autopsy reveals bullet was discovered with skeletal remains – along with fragments of her hoodie seen in unearthed photo of her cooking with Barry’s mom

Cooking breakfast with her mother-in-law and drinking coffee in her scenic Colorado backyard, this is tragic Suzanne Morphew, pictured in the gray ‘Crested Butte’ hoodie she died in – 20 months before she was murdered.

An autopsy report obtained by DailyMail.com shows that the remains of the murdered mother were found along with the loungewear, which she wore during a family visit to her home on August 10, 2018, and had been reduced to bones.

The report, signed by five doctors on April 15, says Suzanne’s corpse was in such poor condition when it was found last September in a remote field 50 miles south of Salida that she was initially called a Jane Doe .

It says her remains arrived in three paper bags that also contained some animal bones, dirt and a fragment of wood.

A ‘pink and light-coloured’ work glove was also found near her body, as well as a ‘balaclava with a pale pattern’ and a ‘weathered’ bullet. A purple ‘medical port’ covered in dirt was also found at the scene. Suzanne was in remission after suffering from leukemia.

Those bones included her skull, several vertebrae and ribs, and her femurs – one of which was preserved for toxicology tests that showed the 49-year-old had been sedated with a cocktail of veterinary drugs before her death.

In addition to her skeletal remains, Colorado Bureau of Investigations detectives also collected seven paper bags of clothing from the remote field in Moffat where she was discovered, including the “torn dark blue/gray” Crested Butte hoodie, a bra, a torn green Nike tank top and Yeti shorts.

The report also notes that Kim Look, a forensic dentist – who specializes in identifying victims by their teeth – was present at the autopsy and goes on to say that three of Suzanne’s teeth were sent for DNA analysis.

The new details of the tragic mother of two’s chilling end come days after she was remembered by husband Barry, now 56, and daughters Mallory and Macy during an intimate celebration of life at Trinity Baptist Church in Westgate, Indiana.

Guests at the invitation-only event included Barry’s older sister Kelly Gillen, who is seen in her garden with Suzanne during the 2018 visit, and his mother Shirley, who was photographed with her on the same trip as she cooked breakfast with her.

Also in attendance was Suzanne’s friend Holly Wilson, who gave a lengthy speech despite providing police with damning evidence during their investigation into the cancer survivor’s murder.

Wilson told police she had a conversation with Barry in which he accused her of having sex with another man, telling her, “If I find him, I’m going to shoot his balls off and shove them down his throat.” ‘

She also told investigators that she was aware of Suzanne’s affair with married father of six, Jeff Libler, and said Suzanne confided in her that she wanted to marry her former high school sweetheart from Michigan, but from plan was to wait for her daughters to do so. leaving the house before getting divorced.

Suzanne, who would have turned 53 two weeks ago, disappeared from her home in Salida on May 10, 2020, with neighbors raising the alarm after her daughters were unable to contact her to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day.

In May 2021, Barry was arrested and charged with murder, but the case collapsed before going to trial and he is now suing Chaffee County for $15 million in damages over the botched prosecution.

Nevertheless, the case against him was dismissed without prejudice, meaning charges could be refiled if police discovered incriminating evidence against him.

Although the long-running case remains unsolved, the discovery of animal tranquilizer drugs in Suzanne’s bone marrow reflects a theory the prosecution put forward in arguments made at the pretrial hearing — that Barry had used the drugs to kill his wife unconscious before he killed her. jealous anger.

During their investigation, agents discovered an empty cartridge of animal tranquilizer tangled between the sheets in the dryer of the Morphew’s $1.5 million home in Colorado, and noted that Barry had had what appeared to be scratches on his forearms.

Although Barry had appeared on video tearfully calling for his wife’s return in the immediate aftermath of her disappearance, as DailyMail.com revealed at the time, police were immediately suspicious when the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and local police saw how they the couple’s luxurious home was searched. the days after she disappeared.

Also raising suspicion were Barry’s movements on the night she disappeared, including vehicle tracking data showing that his truck was moved in the early hours of the morning and, as DailyMail.com first reported in 2021, that he moved into a hotel room left Broomfield, Colorado. stinking of bleach and filled with shredded mail later the same day.

During a series of hearings in September 2021, prosecutors revealed the Morphew’s apparently happy marriage was a sham – with Suzanne enjoying a two-year affair while Barry had a profile on extramarital dating site Ashley Madison.

Texts between the couple and included in prosecution evidence showed a series of explosive arguments and a text from Suzanne telling her husband: ‘I’m done’.

Other texts, between Suzanne and her friend Sheila Oliver, shed further light on the volatile marriage to the murdered mother, in which she told her boyfriend Barry that he had once pushed her into a closet and on another occasion put a gun to his head as he asked, “Is that so?” Is this what you want?’

Since his release from Chaffee County Jail, Barry has moved from Colorado, as have his daughters who continue to support their father and have done so publicly during the failed prosecution.

Suzanne’s murder currently remains unsolved, although the Colorado Bureau of Investigation released a statement following the announcement of the autopsy results saying they would continue to work on the case.
