Suspended Premier League referee David Coote ‘tried to set up a drugs party in a Travelodge after Man City clash last month’
David Coote reportedly tried to organize a ‘drug party’ during Manchester City’s Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham in October.
The disgraced referee, 42, is alleged to have sent text messages at half-time to organize a narcotics-filled meeting in a Travelodge hotel room for after the match.
According to The sunCoote booked a hotel room at 7.38pm and sent a booking notification to someone else at 8.04pm – just 11 minutes before kick-off.
The latest damning allegations claim Coote messaged a friend saying ‘I hope you’re getting ready (to meet)’ – during half-time of City’s 2-1 defeat to Spurs.
Coote has already been suspended by the PGMOL after a video emerged of him calling Jürgen Klopp a ‘German ****’, while another video emerged of him allegedly snorting white powder during Euro 2024, where he was an official .

The referee is said to have sent messages minutes before the match and during halftime
A source told The Sun: ‘On the day of the match he messaged me repeatedly and wanted a drugs party after finishing at Spurs (where he was the fourth official).
‘He only booked the Travelodge just before kick-off and sent a notification eleven minutes after the start of the match. It was crazy.
‘The moments before and after he sent me messages. When he texted me at halftime, I thought it was so surreal.
“Surely he should have focused on the game and not on organizing drug parties.”
The source claims they eventually pulled out of the meeting with Coote and the official ‘went crazy’ – even asking for £73.99 in compensation for the booking fee.
It’s been a turbulent few days since the original video of Coote calling Klopp a ‘German ****’ and Liverpool ‘***’ came to light on Monday.
He reportedly initially denied it was real before admitting it was real, with the PGMOL investigating the footage.
“Liverpool was damned,” Coote said in the video. ‘(Klopp is a) ****, absolutely ****. Apart from right-clicking me when I refereed them against Burnley in lockdown, he accused me of lying and then got a bloody punch from me.

Coote (pictured topless in a separate video) has also been accused of making disparaging comments about Everton Football Club and Liverpool defender Andy Robertson

“I’m not interested in talking to someone who’s damn arrogant. That’s why I try my best not to talk to him. (James) Milner is doing well, I get on with him. You see me there with a ‘mask’ on. But, my god, German, fuck me.”
An eight-second clip was released by The Sun on Wednesday in which Coote allegedly uses a rolled-up banknote to inhale a white powder in a warm room during last summer’s European Championship.
That video is said to have been recorded on July 6, the day after the Euro 2024 quarter-final between Portugal and France, in which Coote was a supporting VAR official and Michael Oliver was the referee.
It is also reported that the film was shot in a UEFA-funded hotel room. He has been relieved from officiating European matches by UEFA.
UEFA said on Wednesday evening in relation to Coote’s previous conduct: ‘The UEFA Refereeing Committee immediately suspended David Coote until further notice on 11 November when it became aware of his inappropriate behaviour.’
A PGMOL spokesperson said: “We are aware of the allegations and are taking them very seriously. David Coote remains suspended pending a full investigation.
“David’s well-being remains of the utmost importance to us and we are doing everything we can to provide him with the ongoing necessary support he needs during this period.
“We are not in a position to comment further at this stage.”
