Suspect is shot dead by cops on highway after running down a motorcyclist during pursuit and then SKIPPING across the road to attack biker with a knife

This is the moment a suspect was shot dead by multiple officers on a California highway after hitting a motorcyclist during a high-speed chase and then lunging at the injured man and attacking him.

On Nov. 5 around 12:20 p.m., Zachary Wolffscott, 36, drove his silver Toyota Prius recklessly toward Interstate 80 in Sacramento after a California Highway Patrol officer tried to stop him for a traffic violation.

Video of the incident recently released by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office shows Wolffscott leading three officers on a high-speed chase along the busy highway before crashing into an uninvolved motorist.

Wolffscott was ultimately shot and killed by officers after he got out of his vehicle and walked toward the injured citizen with a knife in his hand. The motorcyclist survived and was taken to hospital with his injuries.

It is unclear why Wolfscott decided to run from authorities or why he tried to stab the civilian.

Zachary Wolffscott is seen moments after crashing his car into a grassy area on the shoulder of Interstate 80. He held a knife in his right hand and happily skipped forward to stab the injured motorcyclist he hit.

One of three California Highway Patrol officers shot him in the back before he could stab the wounded man to the ground

Wolffscott then stood up and attempted to stab the victim in the torso before all three officers shot him. The deputy officer fired four rounds, the CHP motorcycle officer fired three rounds, and the CHP patrol officer fired one round

The dashcam video of the incident begins as a patrol car jumps into pursuit with a K-9 deputy and a motorcycle officer.

The patrol car moves quickly into the left lane behind the other officers as one of them speaks into the radio, saying, “Approaching Elkhorn 105 mph, lane number 1, moderate traffic.”

As police speed to reach Wolffscott, another radio announcement reads: '46-20. I'll take over radio traffic and approach Greenback, lane number 3, 125 miles per hour.'

That CHP officer then moves into the center lane and approaches the other officer as they continue to pursue the suspect standing directly in front of them.

Wolffscott then appears to lose control of his Toyota Prius as he swerves to the left and collides with the motorcyclist in front of him.

The civilian flies off his bike and into the air before crashing into the sidewalk. Wolffscott's car moved all the way to the right lane and crashed into a grassy area along the shoulder of the highway.

The K-9 officer says, “Holy s***!” as thick plumes of smoke and debris fly into the air and Wolffscott's car appears to be inoperable.

The three responding officers then stop traffic as they pull up to the crashed car, next to the motorcyclist's body still on the sidewalk.

“Hey, stay in the car or you'll get bitten,” the deputy says as he pulls out his gun.

Wolffscott does not listen to his commands as the officer repeats himself and says, “Get on the ground or you will be bitten.”

It is unclear why Wolfscott decided to run from authorities or why he tried to stab the civilian. He was transported to hospital and pronounced dead

Sergeant Amar Gandhi said officers were able to recover a six-inch knife from the suspect after he was shot and killed and the innocent victim was taken to a local hospital where he survived.

The bald suspect is then seen from the corner of the frame, wearing a black hoodie, shorts and sneakers, opening a knife and holding it in his right hand.

Wolffscott then smiles and skips across the road to the civilian as the officer follows him with his gun.

The K-9 deputy then fires two shots at Wolffscott as he falls to the ground on his back. He then starts moving while grabbing his knife as the officer says, “Stop, drop it!”

Wolffscott then looks at the officer before standing up and then lunging at the downed civilian with his weapon.

He then tries to stab the victim's torso with the knife, but it is unclear whether he actually did so or not.

Each of the officers then shoots Wolffscott as he tries to further injure the motorist.

The deputy officer fired four rounds, the CHP motorcycle officer fired three rounds and the CHP patrol officer fired one round.

Wolffscott then fell to the ground as officers restrained him and rendered aid to the injured motorcyclist.

The Sacramento Metro Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly transported the victim with serious injuries to a nearby hospital, where he survived.

Wolffscott was also taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Sergeant Amar Gandhi said officers were able to recover a six-inch knife from the suspect.

On November 4, a Florida truck driver leads police on a bizarre high-speed chase in an 18-wheeler.

Christopher John Lubowski, 51, was hit with two charges, including possession of a controlled substance, after a chase lasting more than two and a half hours took authorities through multiple counties.

Officers followed the big rig as it destroyed Highway 59 in Montgomery County. Lubowski cut across the median and past unsuspecting vehicles.

The 51-year-old was charged with evading arrest, a third-degree felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony.

Chief Inspector Stephen Carlisle of the Roman Forest Police said it was believed to be methamphetamine, but this detail had yet to be confirmed.

Lubowski was booked into the Montgomery County Sheriff Office jail.
