Suspect Gregory Black in crash that killed three women was on probation in MURDER case
A man suspected of crashing a car traveling at 100 mph on an Uber, killing the three passengers, has served a lengthy police report and was on trial in a murder case.
Gregory Black, 31, is charged with speeding in the vehicle that killed Juvelyn Arroyo, 23, Veronica Amezola, 23, and Kimberly Izquierdo, 27, at the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and West Century Boulevard in Westmont, Los Angeles.
Black — a known gang member with three felony convictions — is said to have run a red light in his white Mercedes-Benz at 5:25 a.m. and boned the Uber, causing the fatal impact.
The impact was so strong that the black Honda spun five times, killing three of the four passengers. One of the women was thrown from the car during the crash, Los Angeles Police Department Detective Ryan Moreno said.
A fourth female passenger and the Uber’s male driver were taken to a hospital.

Witness Victor Gonzalez said the car was “probably going over 80, 85. He probably tried to drive into the light, but did not see the (other) driver, which is when the collision occurred.’
Investigators believe Black may have been trying to run from something.
Black is being held on $4 million bail.
He was released early, despite his criminal record, under the direction of LA’s “awakened” District Attorney George Gascon, who was repeatedly criticized for his soft approach to crime, which led to the release of murderers and child molesters years earlier.
Gascon made his name as a district attorney in San Francisco, where he co-authored the infamous Senate bill Proposition 47, which reduced the number of crimes in the code.
And he reiterated this move as he vowed to drop bail on his first day back in December 2020, pledging the release of hundreds of people from LA County jails.
He said his prosecutors would no longer seek the death penalty, calling it “racist,” and vowing to end the prosecution of juveniles as adults.
