Melbourne judge issues a brutal spray to ‘entitled’ private school boy who racked up over 100 driving offences

A former private school student turned fine kid who lived a privileged life without consequences could soon be jailed after filming himself speeding in luxury cars and putting them on cruise control.

Sushant Mittal, 20, was arraigned in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to more than 100 driving offences, including reckless conduct endangering life.

Magistrate Malcolm Thomas unleashed the former Haileybury student, a private co-educational school with secondary fees of almost $40,000 a year, and branded him an “entitled, spoiled fool,” Nine news reported.

‘He risks death and traumatic brain injury and is happy to leave families destroyed. For likes? So he seems like a big hero?’ Magistrate Thomas noted this.

The court heard Mittal and his twin brother regularly filmed themselves driving around in AMGs and BMWs bought by their parents before sharing the footage on TikTok under the name ‘Sushi on Fire’.

His brother was convicted earlier this year and managed to avoid ending up behind bars. Mittal was warned that he may not be granted a reprieve.

Footage of Mittal, filmed when he was 18 and 19, showed him putting his souped-up cruise control on the passenger seat before getting into the passenger seat, letting the vehicle drive itself three times.

One clip showed Mittal speeding through the Domain Tunnel with both hands on his phone instead of the steering wheel.

Mittal regularly drove his souped-up luxury cars, paid for by his parents, and activated the cruise control before moving to the passenger seat (pictured), leaving the vehicle without a driver.

He then moved from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat as his brother cheered him on.

Other footage showed Mittal reaching a speed of 162mph and overtaking 40 cars in 40 seconds while traveling at 117mph on the Monash Freeway.

Magistrate Thomas described Mittal’s behavior as ‘absolutely foolish’.

‘He doesn’t realize it. He did not look at the photos, but at the victim statements. And there is also not a large number of young men willing to engage in similar behavior for likes or to feel powerful,” he said.

Even Mittal’s own lawyer branded him ‘outrageous and idiotic’.

The court heard that both he and his brother ‘have never had to take responsibility for anything in their lives’, while magistrate Thomas branded Mittal as ‘immature, spoiled and sheltered from a lack of consequences’.

Mittal currently works as the director of a supermarket owned by his father.

He got the position after deciding he didn’t want to complete his Victorian Certificate of Education.

When Mittal was arrested in April 2023, he denied committing the offenses and instead tried to shift the blame to friends and relatives.

He has reportedly been ostracized from his social circle as a result.

Other footage shows Mittal reaching a speed of 162mph and overtaking 40 cars in 40 seconds while traveling at 117mph on the Monash Freeway.

The 20-year-old was arrested during Operation Achilles, which was launched by Victoria Police in 2021 as a crackdown on hooligan drivers.

Mittal, who moved to Australia 10 years ago, will be sentenced next month with the possibility of a prison term.

Despite the hearing, he is said to be vulnerable in custody due to his privileged upbringing.
