Susanna Reid gets into the Christmas spirit as she drapes herself in tinsel in front of an utterly bemused Ed Balls as they spat over whether it is too early for festive decor
Susanna Reid started Christmas in front of a completely bewildered Ed Balls on Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain.
The presenter, 52, was clearly very excited about the festive holiday as she couldn’t resist dressing herself in tinsel as the former minister looked on with a disgusted look.
The two began a friendly discussion about whether mid-November is still too early for festive decorations.
A very enthusiastic Susanna exclaimed: ‘I’m all for it! Turn on the lights, raise the tinsel.
“Take out the pigs in blankets – the vegan pigs in blankets!” Let the BBC singers go all out with Christmas carols!’

A skeptical Ed Balls interrupted her indignantly to protest the fact that she was preparing for Christmas in mid-November: “Let’s start with Valentine’s Day. Happy Easter! Bikinis on – summer is here!’
Later he seemed to warm up to the idea of an early Christmas as he spoke to Lorraine and wrapped the tinsel around himself and Susanna.
However, he continued to insist that Christmas “isn’t happening yet!” while Susanna kept saying, ‘It is so! It is!’ before breaking into a rendition of It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas as the next segment was introduced.
Fans were also divided over the best time to put up the decorations.
One couple was excited to get ready as quickly as possible and someone took to X, formerly Twitter, to say: ‘Nothing better than getting ready early in these dark, cold days.’
Another said: ‘It’s never too early when Halloween is over. My decorations are going up. I think the season is going way too fast, so why not.”
However, some were stubborn and claimed that December should be the only month of Christmas.

Another said, “I don’t often fully agree with Ed Balls, but hey, why not get next year’s pumpkins early while they’re still fresh?”
Earlier this month, Susanna hinted she could join the I’m A Celebrity line-up, telling ITV viewers that her co-star Ranvir Singh was ‘confident she’s going in.’
But fans were left disappointed when she wasn’t announced in the line-up ahead of the series starting this Sunday.
