Survivor star Parvati Shallow, 41, comes out as gay as she kisses comedian Mae Martin, 36, in sweet snaps: ‘We’re here. We’re queer’

Parvati Shallow has come out as gay and uploaded a sweet Instagram photo with partner Mae Martin on Saturday to share the big news as she rings in the new year.

The Survivor star, 41 — who was previously married to fellow Survivor alum John Fincher — captioned the post as, “We are here. We are strange. Happy new year.'

The TV personality held up a series of black and white photos that both she and the comedian, 36, took in a photo booth.

The couple was seen cozying up next to each other and in one of the photos, the couple also shared a kiss.

Social media users have taken to the comments section to share their excitement, like author Adam Grant, who wrote: 'So happy for you. Bring on the new Black Widow Brigade,” referring to the Survivor competition series.

Parvati is known as the $1 million winner on Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites, and also competed in Survivor: Cook Islands and Survivor: Winners At War.

Her partner, Mae Martin, is not only known as a comedian, but also starred in the Netflix series Feel Good.

The Canadian-born star was nominated for the BAFTA TV Award for Best Female Comedy for their role in the show. Martin has made appearances in other projects such as HBO Max's The Flight Attendant.

Shallow was previously married to Survivor: Samoa star John Fincher. The couple started dating in 2014 and got engaged in January 2017.

Later that same year, in July, the two married. They welcomed their daughter, Ama, five, in July 2018.

However, in August 2021, Parvati filed for divorce from Fincher after four years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Just days later, she also requested a temporary domestic violence restraining order against John.

At the time, she requested that her ex not “harass, assault, hit, threaten, assault (sexually or otherwise)” or “contact, directly or indirectly, [her] in any way,” per We weekly.

The star also requested that her ex stay at least 100 meters away from her, her home, vehicle and workplace, in addition to supervised visitation for their daughter.

Parvati claimed Fincher “lunged” at her as they argued with their daughter less than three feet away. She also claimed that he told her to commit suicide.

During an argument one night, Parvati claimed their daughter was “less than three feet away” before her ex “lunged at me, grabbed my arm, wrestled my phone out of my hands and ran for the door.”

Shallow claimed Fincher “got in my face” and was “verbally and physically aggressive” during the dispute, which reportedly wasn't the first time this had happened.

She also claimed that he told her to commit suicide. 'I don't care about you. I hope you commit suicide. You can walk into traffic. You can jump off a cliff. I hope you put a gun in your mouth and blow your brains out,” she claims.

In Fincher's response, the reality star insisted he had “no physical contact” with Parvati that night. He has also asked a judge to reject Parvati's protection request.

Shallow was previously married to Survivor: Samoa star John Fincher. The couple married in 2017 and welcomed daughter Ama in 2018, but she filed for divorce in August 2021.

Police “interviewed the adults in the home” and “made no arrests,” Us Weekly reported, citing court documents.

In addition to proudly coming out during her budding relationship with Mae, Parvati will also appear in the second season of Peacock's competition series titled The Traitors, which will air in January 2024.
