Surprising thing Aussies are doing to cope with the rising cost of living – and bosses won’t be happy

Nearly seven million Australians feel the need to find a second job to combat the cost of living, a new survey has found.

Up to 32 percent of respondents want a second income, which equates to 6.7 million Aussies, Finder’s research shows.

Up to 41 percent of female respondents and 24 percent of male respondents think they need a second job due to the cost of living crisis.

Aussies in their early to mid-20s are feeling the most financial pressure, with 56 percent of Gen Z saying they need dual incomes.

This was followed by a whopping 40 percent of millennials.

Money expert Rebecca Pike said many people had no choice but to take on a second job to keep their heads above water.

“The cost of living crisis means many are in financial difficulty and are finding it difficult to pay rising insurance and utility bills,” she said.

Ms. Pike recommended finding ways to increase your income without having to take on a second job, which can be a big responsibility.

“From renting out equipment you don’t use at home to renting out a spare room or advertising your skills on AirTasker, side hustles can be a great way to make some extra money,” she shared 9News.

‘This way you can choose when you work.’
