Declan Rice and his England teammates partied into the early hours of Wednesday morning after the midfielder won his 50th cap for his country and captained the side for the first time.
The likes of Jude Bellingham and James Maddison attended the festivities, which were, perhaps surprisingly, hosted by comedian and West Ham fan James Corden and singer Harry Styles.
Rice, Corden and Styles chose A-list hotspot Chiltern Firehouse as their venue and partied until 4am before heading out into the early morning, in a celebration that also included some of Rice’s international teammates.
It was a crossover that few might have seen coming, but what other celebrity-footballer relationships exist that you might not know about?

Neymar and Lewis Hamilton
Brazilian legend Neymar struck up a friendship with Lewis Hamilton through his love for F1 and the Formula 1 driver’s admiration for the country of Brazil.
Ahead of the 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix, Hamilton officially became an honorary Brazilian citizen, telling attendees at a special ceremony: “I really feel like I’m one of you now.”
The pair have met a number of times, including at the LOVE magazine x Miu Miu party during London Fashion Week in 2017 and the Spanish Grand Prix last year.
Meetings are rare due to both stars’ busy schedules, but their friendship is a great example of how two megastars from their respective sports can bond.

David Beckham and Tom Cruise
David Beckham – who is now more of a mainstream celebrity than a former footballer himself – has been photographed countless times alongside Tom Cruise.
Cruise attended Beckham’s ‘Welcome to LA’ party when he joined MLS side LA Galaxy in 2007, and the pair have even been spotted with their families at a hockey match in the past.
It was reported that Cruise helped Beckham and his Spice Girl wife Victoria meet other celebrities when they moved to the United States, although things quickly went south once the British settled in the country.
“Tom did everything for them when they first moved to LA,” a source told The Mirror last year. “He practically gave them the keys to the city. He threw a party for them to meet all the important people, and as soon as they settled in, they threw him out.”
It’s been widely reported that the Beckhams tried to salvage the friendship, but haven’t heard back from the Top Gun star since. What could have been.

Sergio Aguero and Drake
Musician Drake has had a long-standing love affair with sports, regularly betting large sums of money on major events and being pictured in various football shirts over the years.
Manchester City are one of the teams whose jerseys he has donned, and he was presented with one himself when he met Sergio Aguero in 2019.
Aguero attended one of Drake’s shows at the Manchester Arena five years ago, where he met the star backstage, and he looked a bit like a star during the meeting.
The two struck up a conversation and posed briefly, with the image going viral on social media, although he did suffer the much speculated ‘Drake curse’ when he missed a penalty against Tottenham in the Champions League a few months later.
The likes of Jadon Sancho, Daniel Sturridge and Conor McGregor have all fallen victim to the alleged curse.

Ronaldo and Ed Sheeran
Ronaldo’s love for music was what helped form his friendship with Ed Sheeran – which may be the most unlikely relationship on this list.
“I met Ronaldo and he came to my concert and invited us to his house where there is a club,” Ipswich Town fan Ed Sheeran revealed to The Sun in 2017 of how he met the two-time Ballon d’Or winner.
“We went there and he showed me my dance routine from the Thinking Out Loud video. He learned it with his girlfriend, which was great.”
It was after a concert in Sao Paulo that the two first met, and they planned to do so again a few years later, Sheeran revealed.
“I see Ronaldo again, that’s exciting,” he said. ‘I really like him. He was so cool. He gave me a shirt that says, ‘To Ed, you f***. Ronaldo’.’
It’s unclear if they ever met again, but we’ll always have the photo.

Troy Deeney and Anthony Joshua
It was a humble beginning for this friendship, which started when the two sports stars met in a hairdresser’s shop in Watford.
The former Hornets forward claimed he didn’t know who he was talking to at the time, but they hit it off about their common interests and were also able to chat about their sporting journeys from rags to riches.
“I’ve never claimed to be his best friend,” Deeney told The Mirror. ‘I’m just proud of what he has achieved and I think we can go further because our backgrounds are similar.
‘We both grew up in an area where all distractions were present. I’ve made my mistakes and so did he when he was younger.’

Deeney said the two enjoyed it because they realized they had a lot in common despite not knowing who Joshua was
The pair have since become friends and appeared on an episode of Goalhanger’s Premier League Show a few years ago.
Deeney also congratulated the Brit on his heavyweight victory over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley in 2017.
