Sure-fire way to get arrested! Moment Nevada Rangers plow truck through Extinction Rebellion protest after the activists blocked road into Burning Man that caused ‘miles-long gridlock’
Tribal police have broken the blockade of climate protesters blocking the way to Nevada’s Burning Man festival – as footage shows police taking a no-nonsense approach to activists.
Video taken in Nevada shows about six protesters from the Seven Circles group and Extinction Rebellion blocking a road with a trailer, causing traffic chaos and miles of traffic jams.
The protesters locked themselves in the trailer and appeared to clash with those trying to attend the Burning Man festival before police were called on Aug. 27.
Rangers from Nevada’s Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal Police drove right through the blockade and soon began arresting protesters on the road, sobbing, “We are non-violent.”
One tribal officer got out of the vehicle and ordered a woman to lie on the ground at gunpoint before telling her to “stop resisting” arrest.

Another you hear protesters ask ‘who has the gun’, while the protesters say ‘we don’t have any guns at all, we are environmental protesters’.
Guardian journalist Michelle Hooq claimed on social media that the Rangers attended the protest after receiving a call that ‘someone in the crowd was going to shoot the activists’.
DailyMail.com did not immediately receive a response to a request for comment from Extinction Rebellion, Seven Circles or the PLPTPD.
A forest ranger could be heard saying that the protesters are ‘entering tribal land’ before several were arrested and taken into custody.
Rave Revolution social media posted the footage and captioned it, “The Nevada Ranger rammed into the blockade, an officer drew his gun and threatened to shoot.
“Activists from Extinction Rebellion and Rave Revolution Global demanded that the festival ban private jets and single-use plastics.”
Photos from the protest show an XR banner reading “Ban Private Jets,” as well as other signs reading “Burners of the World Unite and ‘Abolish Capitalism’.”
Last year, Rave Revolution installed a “climate-related artwork” at Burning Man and said their “feedback has been excellent,” so they’re looking to have an “expanded presence” in 2023.

Extinction Rebellion has yet to release an official statement about the protest, but the group’s Seattle branch tweeted, “Why would a police officer endanger public safety in that way?”
Seven Circles say their goal is to “draw attention to capitalism’s inability to address climate and ecological collapse.”
Protesters said they were also against “the popularization of Burning Man among affluent people who do not live up to Burning Man values, resulting in the commodification of the event.”
Mun Chong, an Extinction Rebellion protester, said, “The time has come. Burning Man should strive to have the same political impact as Woodstock on the counterculture.
‘If we are honest about system change, it should start with ‘home’. Immediately ban the low-hanging fruit: private jets.
“No individual should have the luxury of emitting 10 to 20 times more CO2 emissions than a commercial airline passenger. Burners, rebel with us.’

Seven Circles say their goal is to “draw attention to capitalism’s inability to address climate and ecological collapse”
They argue that Burning Man’s apolitical stance is “damaging its claimed values, especially as carbon emissions continue to rise despite government and business commitments to cut carbon emissions by more than half by 2030.”
Thomas Diocano, co-founder of Rave Revolution, added: ‘We don’t have a climate problem, the climate behaves exactly in accordance with the laws of physics.
“We have an economic system problem, and that economic system is capitalism. History shows that capitalism cannot be reformed.
It cannot be changed from within. Are we really willing to sacrifice everything for an outdated, unequal economic system? The time to evolve has come.’
Among the demands is that the Burning Man leadership “advocate for system change on both a political and economic level” and ban private jets, single-use plastics, “unnecessary propane burning and unrestricted use of generators” during the nine-day event.
