Suranne Jones gets stuck into character as she takes to the set of new ITV drama Maryland

Suranne Jones looked hard at work as she took to the set of her new ITV drama Maryland on Wednesday.

The former soap star, 44, stayed casual in wide-leg jeans while filming scenes alongside nurse Jackie actress Eve Best.

The three-part family drama begins filming in Wicklow, Ireland. Created by and stars Suranne, the three-part family drama will follow two sisters (Jones and Best) as they discover their late mother’s ‘double life’ after her death.

Suranne was first clicked on set and paired her dark wash jeans with a pair of black heeled boots.

She added a long navy blue coat and animal print scarf, while her dark brown locks fell straight to her shoulders.

The actress appeared in deep conversation with co-star Eve for the scenes, folding her arms as they chatted in the street.

While other photos showed the actress, who is Dr. Eleanor O’Hara starred in the series Nurse Jackie dressed in workout clothes while going for a run.

Suranne took a break from filming and threw back her locks as she was caught enjoying a hot drink on set – before chatting with cast and crew.

Busy: While Suranne also filmed with another co-star as they geared up for the Irish cold

The former Coronation Street actress co-created the drama with screenwriter Anne-Marie O’Connor, and it starts shooting this week.

The brunette will take on the role of Becca, with the show exploring the relationship between siblings as death brings them together.

When they find out they’ve lost their mother, the two sisters discover she was leading a double life – one with their father and another named ‘Maryland’.

Suranne previously shared: ‘I love how complex sibling relationships can be and I’m really glad we can do it over 3 wonderful hours and not as a side story.
