Supermodel Claudia Schiffer, 54, reveals what she gave up to become a supermom to her 3 kids
Claudia Schiffer is happy that her career comes second to her family.
The 54-year-old supermodel admitted her focus changed after she married Matthew Vaughn and they had their three children: Casper, now 21, Clementine, 19, and Cosima, 14.
She became less “competitive,” and while she knows she could still book more jobs if she wanted to, she is happy with the balance she has achieved in her life.
She told me recently Great Britain HELLO! magazine: ‘When I was in my twenties and traveling the world, my focus was on my career: working hard, being competitive and reaching the top.
‘That changed when I had children, and now I feel lucky to have such a wonderful family.
‘I am proud of my children, they are very down to earth and their well-being is my and my husband’s priority.

“I could take on many more runways, photo shoots and other projects,” she said.
“But maintaining a balance that allows me to spend quality time with my family and be there when they need me is much more important to me than creating a great new campaign.”
Claudia was one of the original supermodels alongside Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington.
Although she realizes that their position in the fashion industry was ‘revolutionary’, it was only much later that she realized how special this time was.
She said: ‘The 1990s saw the rise of the supermodel, but also the rise of style culture and fearless creativity.
‘A wave of young new talent has fundamentally changed the way we look at fashion and design.
‘Previously, models were categorized as runway, commercial or editorial, but as supermodels we crossed those boundaries and became household names representing self-made success.
“We were at the forefront of everything and whatever we wanted to do, we made it happen, which was revolutionary for the industry.

‘I barely took a day off and was constantly traveling around the world, but it was also a lot of fun.
‘It wasn’t until I got married and later became pregnant, so I moved at a slower pace, that I was able to really look back and realize how special the 1990s were – unlike any other decade.’
This comes after the cover girl said she ‘parties’ all day at Christmas.
She admitted that the festive season is a “time of indulgence,” so she likes to indulge in all her favorite foods during the holiday season.
Before Christmas she told the British newspaper HELLO! magazine: ‘We are always at home in Suffolk at Christmas. We embrace German traditions such as Saint Martin and Sinterklaas. When the children were small, Sinterklaas personally visited and read from his book to see if they had been good enough to deserve a present.
‘On December 25, the children put their shoes outside in the evening, hoping that they will be filled with Christmas sweets, clementines and nuts! Now that mine have grown, I still continue the tradition, especially to enjoy the special German Christmas sweets that you can’t find in England…
‘Christmas for us is a time of indulgence, with a feast that lasts from breakfast to late night snacks. On Christmas Eve we usually enjoy a crispy goose with gravy, potato dumplings, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower cheese and desserts such as tiramisu, glazed marble cake and Tarte Tatin.

“On the 25th it’s turkey and ham with all the trimmings, followed by desserts like bread and butter pudding or freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.”
The blonde beauty still uses her childhood Christmas decorations on her tree.
She said, “I also decorate the tree with carved wooden ornaments from my childhood. I grew up with real candles lit on the Christmas tree!’
During the holidays, Claudia and Matthew like to organize a number of parties for their friends and family.
She said: ‘I love organizing parties and the way it brings friends together. Most years we have a Christmas cocktail party, as well as an annual New Year’s Eve party for all our close friends and family. It always has a theme and is a great way to end the year; everyone in their costumes, all ages coming together.
‘Last year our theme was Studio 54, but my favorite is Oktoberfest. It’s hilarious to see all my non-German friends wearing Lederhosen and Dirndls. I wish I could wear a dirndl every day!’
