Supercheap Auto issues urgent recall on popular product amid ‘deadly’ safety fears

The Australian Consumer Protection Authority has issued an urgent recall of a jack sold at Supercheap Auto stores, warning that the product could cause serious injury or death to customers.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the ToolPRO 1,600kg Low Profile Hydraulic Car Jack poses a serious health risk because ‘the front wheel axle, lift arm pivot axle or cylinder pivot axle may break during normal use’.

“This can also happen when the jack is not in use,” the regulator warns.

‘There is a risk of serious injury or death if the jack fails and a vehicle lands on a user.’

According to the ACCC, only batches starting with the code TH202311 are being recalled.

We advise consumers to immediately stop using the product and check the production batch of their jack.

“The production batch is on a white label, close to the instruction label,” the watchdog said.

‘Consumers with recalled products should return the product to their nearest Supercheap Auto store for a replacement or refund.’

The product was sold nationwide and online between January 9 and May 1 this year
