Superbike star Jack Kennedy labels Ryanair a ‘joke’ after airline charge him £75 to take British Supersport trophy to Ireland… but some fans don’t agree

Superbike champion Jack Kennedy was far from impressed when Ryanair charged him extra to take his trophy to Ireland on Tuesday evening.

Kennedy took his sixth race win of the British Supersport season with a brilliant last-lap move to take victory at Thruxton.

The British Supersport Championship is a support series to the British Superbike Championship, using smaller engine capacity motorcycles.

Kennedy, a four-time British Supersport champion, then had to pay an extra £75 to take home the large silver trophy on the budget airline.

And he made his feelings about the decision known on the social media platform X.

Jack vented his frustration at X after he was charged £75 to take his trophy

Well done @Ryanair for charging me £75 to take my trophy I won in the UK and travel home to Ireland FR667. What an absolute joke.’

However, the post received mixed reactions from fans, with many wondering why he would deserve special treatment.

One of them wrote: ‘Although you are a great athlete, you are no different from others.

‘It’s classed as baggage/extra weight etc….maybe next time you’d be better off sending it via Royal Mail and waiting indefinitely for it to be delivered (if it ever does).

Another wrote: ‘Just because you won a trophy doesn’t exempt you from the weight and baggage restrictions?’
