Super-fit Brisbane Broncos NRLW star Julia Robinson hits trolls with a brilliant comeback

Three-time NRLW premiership player Julia Robinson has hit out at keyboard warriors after receiving vile abuse for her ripped physique on social media.

The 24-year-old Broncos and Queensland star featured in a since-deleted post on the Brisbane Broncos’ Facebook page that showed the toned footy player training hard ahead of the season opener this weekend.

The sexist comments had one common theme: they insinuated she was a man.

It didn’t appear to rattle her, but Robinson was determined to call out the vulgar insults.

‘I never usually read social media comments, or let them affect me however I just wanted to say that no one should be ashamed or self-conscious to have muscles,’ Robinson posted on her Instagram story.

‘It shows dedication and hard work. I love my muscles. Julia xoxo.’

The response was below a screenshot of some of the worst comments which included statements like: ‘He’s gonna be a good player’, while another wrote ‘he’s a rig’.

Another pair of comments included one troll writing Robinson ‘looks like a woman trapped in a man’s body’, while another wrote: ‘put a male head on that body and it’s a male’.

Many prominent players, fans and journalists took to social media to show support for Robinson and condemn the vulgar comments.

Ex-NRL legend Isaac Luke was one, literally roasting the trolls.

‘Wowee. Man this pi**es me off. Just because youse (sic) look like potatoes and she doesn’t. Put a photo up of what you look like now and let us ROAST YOU!’ Luke wrote.

He was joined by Wests Tigers star Jackson Hastings, who alluded to footy legend Paul Green’s tragic death when he wrote: ‘What’s wrong with people? After this week alone you’d think people [would] check themselves. Well done to Julia for calling them trolls out absolute burgers.’

Prominent Twitter feed NRL Physio slammed the keyboard warriors, writing: ‘NRLW players looking fitter and stronger, shockingly, is a fantastic thing for the game and just speaks to growing professionalism.’

Robinson’s fellow NRLW star, prominent Queensland journalist Katie Brown, simply wrote ‘DISGUSTING’, while another top footy pundit, Brad Walter, said Robinson – who covered up the names of the trolls – should have ‘named and shamed them’.

The 170cm, 73kg winger has won three premierships with the Broncos, and last season won the club’s coaches award.

Robinson has also played for Queensland and Australia, despite only playing rugby league for the first time in 2018 after playing netball growing up.

The super-fit footy star often posts videos of her training on Instagram.

One incredible example showed Robinson not only completing some chin-ups ridiculously easy, but with a 25kg weight plate strapped to her.

Her strength would put any sexist keyboard warrior to shame.

Female athletes being sexually objectified and subjected to vulgar, sexist comments is, sadly, nothing new.

AFLW star and boxer Tayla Harris famously called out disgusting comments on an award-winning photo of her iconic goalkicking style in a game.

‘My hamstring is ok but derogatory and sexist comments aren’t,’ she wrote at the time, when calling out the trolls, like Robinson has done.

‘Here’s a pic (sic) of me at work. Think about this before your derogatory comments, animals,’ she captioned a Twitter post in the immediate aftermath.
