New Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon has wasted little time before hiring former Philadelphia Eagles colleague Nick Rallis to be his defensive coordinator.
Rallis is set to be hired as the Cardinals’ new defensive brains after Vance Joseph was released from his contract, according to NFL Network.
It has turned into a losing week for the NFC East franchise, which was first beaten 38-35 by Kansas City in last Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Since then, both coordinators, Gannon and Shane Steichen, have gone to work as head coaches with Arizona and Indianapolis, respectively.
Gannon, a former Philadelphia defensive coordinator, was introduced as the Cardinals’ coach on Thursday.

Jonathan Gannon was introduced as Arizona’s head coach at a news conference Thursday.
hiring Rallis would make him the youngest coordinator in the league, at just 29 years old. He would join Jonathan Gannon’s staff, marking the new head coach’s first hire.
Rallis was Philadelphia’s linebackers coach the past two seasons working under Gannon.
Rallis became the youngest full-time positional coach in the NFL when the Eagles hired him in 2021. Prior to that, he was the assistant linebackers/defensive quality coach for the Minnesota Vikings from 2018-20.
The Minnesota native played linebacker at the University of Minnesota from 2012 to 2016, playing in 26 games and making three starts as a senior. Rallis then accepted a position as a quality control coach at Wake Forest in 2017.
According to a story Friday on the Cardinals’ website, the team’s search for a defensive coordinator included interest in Chicago Bears linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi and New England Patriots defensive line coach DeMarcus. Covington.
