Super Bowl champion Earl Thomas’s estranged wife hit with criminal charges for ‘defrauding him out of $2.7m’

The estranged wife of former NFL star Earl Thomas was arrested this week and accused of defrauding him of $2.7 million, according to a report.

Nina Thomas, who filed for divorce from the Super Bowl-winning defense in 2020, is accused in court documents obtained by TMZ only to start a plot to steal money from him the following year.

And according to the newspaper, she was charged this week with multiple counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and aggravated identity theft.

Nina is said to have spent some of the millions she allegedly stole on a Hermes Birkin handbag and breast implants.

She was taken into custody on December 16 before being released.

Documents accuse Nina of working with another unnamed person to defraud Thomas and move his money into their own bank accounts.

Thomas, who last played in the NFL for the Ravens in 2019, was arrested in 2022 for violating a protective order

Last year, Nina’s boyfriend was arrested for stealing the NFL star’s identity in an alleged $1.9 million scam.

Kevin J. Thompson was taken in by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in June 2023.

Per NOLA.com Thompson allegedly cashed Thomas’ NFL checks, stole them from his bank account and transferred ownership of a number of vehicles.

He was charged with identity theft, forgery, money laundering, credit card fraud, computer fraud and bank fraud.

It is unclear whether the two cases are related.

In August 2022, Thomas’ home was left destroyed by a massive fire in Orange County, Texas.

Months earlier, in May 2022, he was arrested at Spanky’s Bar and Grill on a warrant out of Austin for violation of a court protective order.

This was initially because he allegedly sent threatening messages to his wife about her and their children.

It was reported at the time that Thomas was booked into the Orange County Jail and was soon released, with bail set at $15,000.

The original May 2021 protective order requires him to only communicate with Nina through a co-parenting phone application, and she alleged he refused to download the app and showed up unannounced at places she visited, according to the police affidavit.

In May 2020, Thomas’ wife was arrested after she was accused of pointing a loaded gun at his head after breaking into a vacation home and finding him with another woman.

In November of that year she filed for divorce.
