Jackson performed at halftime of the Super Bowl in 1993, which is considered by many to be one of the best of all time, completely changing the perception of the halftime show.

‘He has revolutionized the experience like no other. He changed the way people saw the halftime show,” Usher said.

He added that before Jackson was hired, “it was just kind of hiring, you know, local artists or whatever it may be. I really respected that.’

The solo glove became such an iconic part of Jackson’s personality that fans would eventually shell out thousands of dollars for one of his gloves.

In 2010, an unnamed buyer paid a whopping $190,000 for one of the pop icon’s gloves.

Jackson was just 34 years old at the height of his career when he performed at halftime of Super Bowl XXVII on January 31, 1993.

When asked about the conversations he had with Jackson before his death in 2009, Usher said there was “admiration for what I do as an entertainer.

‘He didn’t really say much. “Every time we had conversations they were quite short, but what he did tell me was that he appreciated that I’m a singing and dancing man and that’s not an easy thing to do,” Usher added.

“It was almost like he was telling me to keep it authentic. And I fight with it because sometimes I definitely want more support, so I add extra backgrounds and things like that, but it kind of disconnects me from the experience that I want to have with my fans and what I want to give them. Usher added.
