Teen stabbed to death at busy Melbourne train station before police arrest alleged knifeman – witness paramedics’ desperate struggle to save victim

A teenager is stabbed to death in front of shocked commuters outside a busy train station.

Emergency services rushed to the gruesome scene at Station Place in Sunshine, west Melbourne, at around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, where the boy was found with a knife wound to his neck.

He tragically died soon after, despite desperate efforts by paramedics to save him.

Witnesses told Nine News that they saw a number of teenagers “running and screaming” at the scene, some of whom were carrying guns.

Homicide detectives have launched an investigation.

A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

Sunshine railway station was closed and trains passing through the station were halted for about 30 minutes, according to the Herald Sun.

All Metro and V/Lines services have now resumed.

Police have cordoned off the corner of Station Place and Withers St while officers investigate.

People who witnessed the incident or have cell phone, dash cam or camera footage are asked to contact police
