A deranged man has turned violent in a busy shopping area, forcing terrified diners and staff to take cover.
CCTV footage shows the man smashing shop windows with a metal stool before turning his attention to smashing car windscreens.
The tirade took place in the Sunshine Coast shopping strip on Hampton Road, with frightened witnesses saying it was unprovoked and was targeting “anything and everything”.
Diners hide under tables as the angry man wandered aimlessly down the street picking random businesses to attack.
The restaurant’s waiter, Lap Dinh, said no one spoke to him, but he kept demanding people to “respect” him.
A deranged man has gone on a violent rampage in a shopping area on the Sunshine Coast, randomly smashing shop windows while shouting that he wants respect.
“He was yelling like they respect me, this and that, but no one spoke to him,” Dinh told 9News.
Other witnesses said they saw him take cars, break a windshield, and then take off in the direction of the Sunshine train station.
Estimated damages from his tirade are expected to cost more than $10,000.
Queensland Police have yet to make an arrest and are unsure of their movements after the riot in the shopping area.
Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the man is asked to contact police immediately.
