Sunshine bus stabbing, Melbourne: Teen, 17, in custody after Pasawm Lyhym fatally stabbed
Teenager arrested after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death at a busy bus station – as the search continues for several knives allegedly used in the brutal attack

A teenager has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Melbourne, as police hunt for several knives believed to have been used in the attack.
A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the death of Pasawm Lyhym, who was stabbed near the Sunshine bus terminal in western Melbourne at about 3:45pm on Thursday.
The arrested Carolina Springs boy was taken into custody Friday as police continue to search for at least two other people allegedly involved in the attack.
“The suspect is currently assisting with the investigation,” a Victoria Police spokesman told the Daily Mail Australia on Friday night.
CCTV footage was released earlier on Friday of a person holding a knife when the 16-year-old was stabbed in broad daylight.

Multiple knives believed to have been used by the alleged attackers have yet to be found, as police examine a white Audi sedan captured on CCTV footage.
A group of teenagers aged between 15 and 16 reportedly approached Mr Lyhym at the busy traffic junction before allegedly attacking him with a machete.
Several commuters witnessed the attack, including a cousin of Mr. Lyhym’s.
“I yelled and said that’s him, that’s him [her cousin],” she said to the Announce sun.
“I tried to run and get help. I didn’t want to look. It all happened so fast.’
Pasawm’s older brother Mawn Lyhym, 24, said his brother, who was on his way home, was chased by at least one assailant.
“He was funny, very nice, a welcoming and friendly person,” he said.
Police are investigating whether a possible rivalry between two nearby schools caused the incident.
Detective Senior Sergeant Janet Stevenson said Mr Lyhym’s death could prompt retaliatory attacks by other students in Melbourne’s west.
Emergency services were called to Station Place in western Melbourne at about 3:45pm on Thursday and are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident
“That would worry us and that’s why we want to talk to the families and the witnesses,” she told a press conference on Thursday.
“We will do everything we can to prevent that. We have identified two other interested parties and we are currently working on that.’
Other family members of Mr Lyhym said they spoke to him on Friday morning about seeing the new Fast and Furious movie before he was killed.
Victoria Matu Community Secretary Anna Takluem said she had known the victim’s family for years and the teen was a familiar face at the church.
Loved ones gathered at Chin Baptist Church, in the industrial area of Sunshine, to hold a vigil for the 16-year-old, who dreams of becoming a carpenter.
