Sunrise Meteorologist Sam Mac Announced as New Host of Channel Seven’s Sydney Weekender: ‘Go For It!’
Sunrise meteorologist Sam Mac is set to expand his career by taking on presenting duties for Channel Seven’s long-running lifestyle show Sydney Weekender.
The television comedian was announced on Sunday as the new host of the popular travel show and will take viewers on a tour of his home state of New South Wales.
“It’s such an iconic show with a passionate fan base, who love to discover the best places to visit. I can’t wait to take my partner and baby on some of these wild adventures,” she said in a statement.

“I’m ready to explore our state, discover the next vacation spot, and excited about the characters I’ll meet on my travels. Go ahead!’ he added.
He will replace Sydney reporter Matt Shirvington on the show, who is leaving to focus on his news and sports duties at Channel Seven.
Sam said he was particularly excited to be taking his partner Rebecca and four-month-old daughter Margot with him on some exciting adventures.

‘Margot has already done six flights. That was something we discussed before accepting the role. Top of my priority list is spending as much time as possible with my family,” she told The Daily Telegraph.
In December, Sam signed a new contract that will keep him on tour with his breakfast show Sunrise for another two years.
The father-of-one announced his contract extension in a post on Instagram that at first seemed like he was handing in his resignation.
Sam, who recently became a father for the first time, began by describing his role on the top-rated show as “the best job in the world.”
“It is such an iconic show with a passionate fan base. I can’t wait to take my partner and baby on some of these wild adventures,” she said in a statement.

‘Which is arguably the best job in the world and I’d be crazy not to keep going. So I’m delighted to announce that I’ve just committed to at least two more years in office.
Sam, who welcomed daughter Margot Grace McMillan with partner Rebecca James in September, also thanked her family in the post.
The new Sydney Weekender series will premiere on Sunday at 5:30pm on Channel Seven.
