Sunrise’s Natalie Barr reveals what she really thinks about her new co-host Matt Shirvington – and her cheeky advice to others hoping for a career in TV
Sunrise presenter Natalie Barr has revealed what she really thinks about her new co-presenter Matt Shirvington.
The 55-year-old told The Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday, she has known Matt for years because they “would see each other at events and always got along.”
“He’s the type of guy who just fits in. He’s a really nice, normal guy with a daggy-dad sense of humor,” she said.
Natalie further revealed how she handles public scrutiny, saying she doesn’t feel any added pressure as the more experienced presenter.
“I don’t mind a little scrutiny. Some people will like the way I do things, others won’t. If you can’t handle that, don’t be on TV,” she explained.

Natalie said she has turned off notifications on Twitter and is blocking all trolls who send her cruel messages on Instagram.
“I think when you do a public job, it’s an essential part. You can’t expect everyone to write glowing reviews,” she added.
Matt was announced as David Kochie’s replacement on Sunrise last month.
While Matt learns the ropes, Natalie has done the lion’s share of hard-hitting interviews, cementing her status as Australia’s queen of breakfast TV.
