Sunrise host Natalie Barr’s frustration turned to anger Monday morning when she grew tired of the arguments of a prominent Donald Trump supporter.
Barr spoke with conservative commentator Wayne Allyn Root on Monday morning as the former president is expected to be charged with 34 counts, related to allegedly paying silence money to porn star Stormy Daniels, in New York on Tuesday.
Root called the charges against Trump “ruthless” and called instead for a number of Democrats including Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama to be charged.
But then he tested Barr’s patience beyond the limit by calling the January 6, 2021 riots in Washington DC “a peaceful protest” where “two Trump supporters were killed, no one else was killed.”
“I don’t think many people would argue that the police (were) being badly beaten in the footage most of us have seen,” Barr snapped.
Sunrise host Natalie Barr (pictured)’s frustration turned to anger Monday morning when she grew fed up with misinformation from a prominent Donald Trump supporter.
Sunrise’s interview with Mr. Root began with co-host Matt Shirvington setting up the stage.
He noted that Trump is “defiantly pushing forward his election campaign despite being accused and only days away from facing a judge for alleged financial crimes.”
Barr added that the former president has reportedly raised more than $5 million from his supporters in recent days.
But things took a turn for the worse as soon as Root was introduced and asked what effect the impeachment had had on the Trump campaign.
‘I think this is the dumbest thing. It’s vicious, but it’s also (the most) silly and laughable thing ever done in American history, and the American people see it that way,” Root responded.
‘His ratings have skyrocketed. In fact, I think Trump likes it and is going to use the mugshot for his campaign. Every TV ad will have Trump’s mugshot in prison.
He continued his unabashed support of the impeached former president, saying, “This is so ridiculous and so out of the ordinary that it turns the United States, sadly, into a banana republic.”
With Trump set to be indicted on 34 counts in New York on Tuesday, conservative commentator Wayne Allyn Root (pictured) spoke with Barr from Las Vegas.
Root called Trump’s charges (pictured) “ruthless” and called for a number of Democrats including Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama to be indicted.
Root said that if the Democrats can impeach Trump, the Republicans can also impeach the Democrats.
He cited an article he wrote that Trump endorsed and promoted, calling for several Democratic politicians and patrons to face criminal charges.
‘If you want to play that game, let’s impeach Hillary (Clinton). Let’s impeach (Barack) Obama. Let’s impeach (billionaire financier) George Soros. Let’s impeach Dr. (Anthony) Fauci. They all deserve to be impeached, Trump doesn’t,” Root said.
He was then asked about what may happen in the coming days and whether Trump’s impeachment could spark protests.
“Obviously, it’s going to create some sort of protest and lawlessness here and there. There may be some violence here and there, little bits here and there, but overall, our side doesn’t believe in violence,” Root said.
He said Australians probably “believe the utter nonsense that January 6th was an insurrection.”
“It was a peaceful protest of a million people and there could have been 50 people who got carried away by a very difficult situation where the police were beating people, tear gassing them and pushing them.”
Mr Root then appeared to play both sides of the fence in one sentence, saying: “I wasn’t there, I can’t speak, but I can tell you it was nothing more than a peaceful demonstration.”
He said he had never seen violence at the Republican and conservative events where he had spoken.
‘We don’t riot, BLM riots. Black lives are important. Antifa (a left-wing anti-fascist and anti-racist political movement) riots.’
This was the point at which Barr finally snapped, saying, “That’s a very nice summary of what a riot was, of which the world has seen the footage.”
Mr Root interrupted to ask ‘Well, did you see BLM, Nat? Did you see BLM try to set the country on fire?
Barr responded: ‘I saw the photos of police officers on January 6 being beaten by protesters, as did the world.
“Two Trump supporters died, no one else died,” Root said, incorrectly. ‘Police bludgeoned a Trump supporter to death.’
Barr fought the spin the Trump supporter was deploying, saying, “I don’t think many people would argue that police (were) being brutalized in the footage most of us have seen.”
Trying to shift direction into slightly less controversial territory, Root was asked if Trump would ask people not to protest after he surrendered on Tuesday.
“I don’t know whether or not to protest,” he said. I’m sure he’ll say don’t commit violence, but people protest every day in America.
I want protest. I have called a national strike. A patriotic national strike. See, that’s the way we protest.
‘The people who have all the jobs, who pay all the taxes are the Republicans and the patriotic conservatives in America. the 80 million Trump voters,’ he said.
In the 2020 presidential election, Trump polled 74,222,958 votes, or 46.8% of the votes cast.
However, the Sunrise hosts did not correct Mr. Root on this, so he continued.
‘If we stay home for a weekend or a week, the whole of America will shut down, it will take total stagnation and there will be no tax revenue.

We are the ones that matter. The people on the other side are on welfare. The people on the other side don’t pay taxes and don’t do all the work,” he said.
The prominent Trump supporter then referred to “the criminals” who are about to arrest “a former president for a matter of private sex that may or may not have occurred.”
However, Barr did not allow Root to have the last word, telling viewers that there are 34 charges against Trump and that one of them is a felony, for which he could be jailed.
He finished by saying, ‘It’s going to be an interesting couple of days, that’s for sure.’
