Sunrise’s Nat Barr lashes out at Kyle Sandilands for joking that her former co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch is ‘senile’ and ‘will soon forget his name’ at age 67
Nat Barr was forced to defend her former Sunrise co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch during an awkward on-air chat with KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands on Thursday.
The Seven presenter, 55, became agitated during an interview with The Kyle And Jackie O Show after Kyle, 52, made an unfounded and cruel joke about Kochie’s cognitive ability at age 67.
“He’s just weeks away from not remembering his name,” Sandilands said of Kochie, who retired from hosting Sunrise last week after 21 years in the role.

“Now you’re saying he’s senile. That’s not good,” she added.

Kyle refused to apologize and told Nat he didn’t care what Kochie thought of him.
‘[When he was on my show] I told him, “You and I will never speak again once you’re out of the celebrity world,” Kyle explained.
Nat seemed disappointed by the shock jock’s admission, telling him that Kochie “really believed Kyle was a nice guy.”

‘I am!’ mocked Kyle, to which Nat replied bluntly, “Only when you’re in front of people.”
“That’s right,” Kyle answered simply, while Nat replied sharply, “OK, fair enough. We know now’.
Kochie officially left Sunrise on Friday after a record 21 years on the show.

The breakfast host made the announcement live on the show late last month, ahead of the bomb with, “Before we move on, a little news from me.”
He told viewers that after “nearly 21 years and 5300 shows,” he felt it was time to pass the torch to the next generation.
“I started here before Facebook, before Instagram, before Twitter and iPhones. That’s how old I am,” he said, as his co-host Nat became visibly emotional.
“I loved every minute of it and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved here over the last 21 years. I’ve had the privilege of going on so many great adventures, meeting so many different people and meeting so many different people and chronicling so many moments of history in the making. It really is the most beautiful job in the world.’
He has been replaced by former Olympic sprinter Matt Shirvington, 44.
