Sunrise’s Edwina Bartholomew forced to apologize after family show airs X-rated footage live on air
Sunrise viewers blushed after the show aired a surprisingly racy segment on Monday morning.
During the family show, stand-in hosts Edwina Bartholomew and Mark Beretta spoke with bird expert Dr. Grainne Cleary about a breeding program and the difficulties of finding a mate in the world of birds.
As Dr. Cleary spoke, images of various birds mating began to flash across the screen, causing Edwina and Mark to laugh awkwardly.

Trying to regain her composure, Edwina told Dr. Cleary at the end of the segment, “Thank you so much for coming out this morning.”
“And apologies to the viewers who had to explain that vision to their children who are watching this morning,” he said through tears of laughter.
Mark then explained the situation to Dr. Cleary, who was unaware of the clashing footage the viewers had just witnessed.

‘While you were talking, we had great bird pairing moments from all over the world on screen. It was a natural experience this morning,” she said.
Edwina, still crying with laughter, then turned to Mark and quipped, “Those eagles really hit it off.”
The ibis surprised me! Mark pondered.
Edwina told viewers after the segment, “Apologies to the viewers who had to explain that vision to their children who are watching this morning.”
The awkward moment came just days after Sunrise viewers criticized the new host. Mylee Hogan for joking that cricketer Glenn McGrath had been killed during a segment on a twisted Tik Tok fashion.
The cruel madness on the social media platform sees children film their parents’ horrified reaction when they are falsely told that a favorite celebrity has suddenly died.
Hogan, granddaughter of Australian icon Paul Hogan, gleefully reported on the viral trend on Wednesday before fill-in presenter Mark Beretta ended the report early.
It comes after shocked viewers criticized new Sunrise reporter Mylee Hogan (pictured) for joking that cricketer Glenn McGrath had been killed during a segment on a twisted TikTok fad last Wednesday.
“That might be the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen,” Mark said. I do not like. We shouldn’t be running that. Take it off. Take it off now.
But when Mark happened to talk to former Australian fast bowler McGrath about the Boxing Day Test, Hogan blurted out: ‘Glenn McGrath died!’
The comment, which was off camera but clearly heard, drew an angry reaction from Mark and co-host Edwina Bartholomew.
“Not even…that’s not funny,” Edwina said as Hogan laughed. Mark added: ‘I don’t understand that at all. It’s not funny. It’s crazy…’
A stern-faced Edwina immediately apologized to viewers, adding: “It’s not funny. Sorry.
